What It Means to Become Parents

Together in Vermont

To us, being parents means offering steady love, support, and guidance through every stage of life. It’s about creating a home where a child feels deeply valued. We believe parenting is more than just teaching—it’s also about growing together as a family. It means showing up every single day, with patience, presence, and an open heart.

What we look forward to most are the small, everyday moments that build a life—reading bedtime stories, walking to school hand in hand, or sharing laughs over dinner. We can’t wait to watch a child discover the world, ask big questions, and develop their own voice. We want to encourage their curiosity, celebrate their milestones, and be a steady source of love and support as they grow into themselves.

We’re excited to build a home where a child feels completely accepted and truly loved. More than anything, we’re ready to raise a child in a life filled with connection, laughter, and a strong sense of belonging.

Our Individual Strengths

At a Family Wedding

We balance each other well, and our strengths really complement one another.

Britt is organized and focused—he’s great at keeping track of details, planning ahead, and creating a calm, dependable environment. He’s also adventurous and loves trying new things, as long as they don’t involve heights! A lifelong learner, Britt loves to read and is always curious about the world—whether it’s his next big garden project, or a new recipe to try. He brings a thoughtful, steady presence to our relationship and is always up for a good conversation or a new experience.

Chris is caring, playful, and go-with-the-flow. He has a natural ability to connect with people, especially kids, and makes others feel at ease with his kindness and sense of humor. He’s endlessly curious, passionate about volunteering and giving back, and loves diving into new hobbies—lately it’s been laser engraving, and before that it was 3D printing. His lighthearted spirit brings joy to our everyday life, and his patience makes him a calming, supportive presence in any situation.

Together, we’re grounded, curious, and ready to share our strengths as parents.

Our Pets

Relaxing With Lottie

Our pets are an important part of our family, and we can’t imagine home without them. Lottie is our 2.5-year-old Pyrdoodle—a mix of Great Pyrenees and Poodle—and she’s the perfect family dog. She’s gentle, playful, protective, and always excited to greet us at the door. She brings so much joy and comfort to our daily lives.

Cuddling With Mako

Mako is our 8-year-old cat. He loves lounging in sunny spots, playing with Lottie, and snuggling up in bed at night. He has a steady, affectionate personality that balances Lottie’s energy in the best way.

We believe pets play a valuable role in a child’s life. They teach responsibility, empathy, and the importance of caring for others. They also offer unconditional love and a steady, comforting presence—especially during hard days. Growing up with pets can provide a sense of security and emotional support that lasts a lifetime.

Lottie and Mako are loyal companions, teachers, and friends. We know they’ll be gentle, loving, and protective with a child, and we’re excited to watch those special bonds grow.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We’re lucky to live in a welcoming neighborhood that reflects the values we care most about—diversity, connection, and community. Families here come from many different backgrounds, cultures, incomes, and faiths, and that mix makes our community feel open, warm, and inclusive.

We live just a block from a wonderful elementary school, so there are always kids riding bikes, families walking together, and a real sense of togetherness. Living close to a good school means strong community ties and a supportive environment for a child to grow, learn, and thrive.

Our home is a cozy two-bedroom rancher filled with natural light and lots of love. Out front, there’s a blooming garden that makes us smile every time we arrive home. Out back, we’re growing vegetables and dreaming of the day a little one is helping us pick tomatoes or dig in the dirt. There’s room to grow, and we’ve made it a space where family comes first.

We’re just around the corner from the botanical gardens and a walkable area full of shops, restaurants, and a year-round farmers market—perfect for weekend strolls and ice cream runs.

And then there’s our dog—she’s 2.5 years old, playful, gentle, and full of love. She’s wonderful with kids and would be a loyal and fun companion to a little one.

This is more than just a neighborhood—it’s home. And we can’t wait to raise a child in a place so full of life, love, and possibility.

Our Extended Families

Chris's Family

Family has always been at the heart of our lives. Britt comes from a big, close-knit family, and when everyone gets together, there’s no shortage of laughter, storytelling, and friendly competition for the last piece of cake. With his parents and siblings living nearby, we’re lucky to share weekly dinners, help one another when needed, and spend holidays enjoying each other’s company—or playing a lively game of spoons.

Britt's Family

Chris’s family may be more spread out, but the connection is just as strong. His sister lives nearby with her husband and daughter, who is beyond excited to welcome a new cousin into the family. His parents live in the mountains, and we love visiting them to take in the quiet beauty of nature, go off-roading, and share conversations over homemade meals.

Though our families are different, we share the same values—love, loyalty, and showing up for one another. Both our families are grounded in warmth, connection, and a deep sense of togetherness. A child who joins our family will be embraced by that same love, surrounded by laughter, and supported by people who will always be there—near or far—for all of life’s moments.

From Us to You

We may not know each other yet, but we already hold deep respect for the strength and love that brought you to this moment. We can only imagine how many emotions you’re carrying as you consider an adoption plan, and we want you to know that?"above all else?"we see your decision as one of courage, care, and profound love.

We’re Chris and Britt, and we’ve been together for 12 years and married for 9. From the beginning of our relationship, we’ve dreamed of becoming parents. We’ve built a life rooted in love, laughter, and mutual respect, and we’re ready?"truly ready?"to share that life with a child. Becoming parents isn’t something we take lightly. We see it as a lifelong promise to love unconditionally, to show up every day, and to nurture a child with honesty, support, and endless compassion.

We know adoption is not just about growing our family?"it’s also about honoring the story that comes before us. Your story. Your child’s story. We believe it’s essential for a child to know where they come from, and to grow up surrounded by truth and love from all sides. We promise to speak openly and lovingly about their adoption from the beginning, and to honor the place you will always hold in their life.

As a same-sex couple, we understand the importance of creating space for identity, openness, and belonging. We will raise your child in a home that celebrates diversity in every form?"ethnic, cultural, religious, and personal. They will grow up knowing that love makes a family, and that their story is one of strength, hope, and connection.

Our life is filled with steady joy and rich community. We live in a diverse, walkable neighborhood close to a wonderful elementary school and the botanical gardens. Our home is a cozy two-bedroom rancher with a big heart?"flowers in the front, vegetables growing in the back, and space filled with light and warmth. We share it with our dog, Lottie, a gentle and playful Pyrdoodle, and our cat, Mako, who brings quiet comfort and cuddles to our days. Both are wonderful with children and will be loving companions.

We know parenting is about more than just creating a safe home?"it’s about being present, consistent, and endlessly supportive. We want to raise a child who is curious, confident, and kind. We want to share in their joys, hold them through their struggles, and give them the tools to discover who they are. We want to read bedtime stories, walk to school together, play flashlight tag on summer nights, and be there for every little and big moment in between.

If we are lucky enough to be chosen by you, please know that we are open to continued contact in whatever way feels right for you and is healthiest for your child. That could mean letters, emails, photos, phone calls, or visits. We will always center the child’s well-being, and we are committed to nurturing any connection that brings them greater understanding and love.

We know this is not an easy decision, and we don’t take the trust you may place in us for granted. If we are the right match, we will spend every day living up to the privilege of being chosen. We will love your child with everything we have, for all the days of our lives.

With gratitude and respect,

Chris & Britt
