The Adoption Foundation
The Adoption Foundation is the charitable wing of American Adoptions of California and Family Connections Christian Adoptions, both affiliates of American Adoptions. Since 1983, we’ve helped create more than 13,000 families and bring decades of experience to the foundation's mission. The Adoption Foundation was created to ensure that the lifelong journey of adoption supports birth parents, adoptive families and strives to make a child's life better through adoption. Adoption can change a child's life forever. But for too many children, it never happens. Not because there aren't families willing to love them. Because too many women never fully understand what adoption could mean for their child, for themselves, and for a waiting family. Today, more than 329,000 children are living in foster care. The gap between children who need homes and families who want them is not a shortage of willing families. It is a shortage of awareness, understanding, and trust. The Adoption Foundation exists to close that gap.Why the Foundation Exists
Helping women understand adoption as a positive option for their child, their future, and a waiting family. This includes education for birth parents, outreach to professionals working within the child welfare system, and advocacy efforts that help hospitals, social workers, judges, and legislators better understand and support adoption. Providing financial support for families pursuing adoption who may not otherwise be able to complete the process, and reducing the obstacles that stand between a child and a permanent home. Providing gap funding and resources for children in foster care who need additional assistance while waiting for a permanent family. Investing in counseling, education, and community programs that support children, birth parents, and adoptive families well beyond placement.What the Foundation Supports
