Matt & Julie
Thank you, for taking the time to read our profile. We want to begin a journey with you to raise a child from infancy to adulthood. We want to raise them to reach their dreams. We want you to see the development of the child and be proud of what we have accomplished together.
Our Life Priorities
The No. 1 priority in our lives is family. Julie's cultural heritage is from the Philippines, where family is valued and respected. Julie talks to her mom and dad almost daily to discuss matters of the day. Matt talks to his parents at least once a week, if not more. The relationship we have with our parents is something we both truly treasure and we look forward to becoming parents ourselves.
We are focused on expanding our family and we have taken that into consideration in all that we do. When we looked for an apartment, we looked for one that could best accommodate a growing family. When we bought a car, we bought one that would hold a family.
We want to be able to share our world and experiences with a child. We can't wait for the day when we finally have a family of our own!
Fun Facts About Us:
Adoption in Our Family
Adoption is already a very large part of our extended family. Our child will grow up being able to share a special bond with other adopted family members and we feel blessed to be able to continue to grow the family through adoption.
Julie's youngest sibling, Christine, was adopted as an infant. Her family maintained an open relationship with Christine's biological mother and they visit and talk often to this day.
Matt's oldest sister has three adopted daughters that are a part of his family. Each adoption was different and brought much love and happiness to each family.
We welcome the opportunity to expand our family through adoption. We wish to continue to the expansion of love and happiness to all members of both families. As Christians who practice our faith, we believe that we are adopted members of God's family. God continues to be a model for us to follow in this new endeavor.
Our House and Neighborhood
We currently live in Singapore. We enjoy the warm weather year round and the many attractions that the city has to offer.
We live in a 28-story building. We share with the building a gym, pool, playground, tennis court, outdoor BBQ area, putting green and a clubhouse. Matt enjoys the swimming pool, which he uses almost daily. There are many families whose kids use the playground and pool area.
We live in a two-bedroom, three-bathroom condominium. Julies' favorite room is the kitchen where she likes to bake (cookies and loaves of bread) and cook. Julie also enjoys gardening, as she places plants throughout the house. Matt's favorite room is the living room, which provides a great view of the city and overlooks the pool and putting green.
Although we currently live overseas, the Navy holds monthly events to celebrate U.S. holidays and other events, so there is always something fun to do! We look forward to having a family of our own to share these events with and we cannot wait to experience it all through the eyes of a child!
Our Extended Families
We enjoy close relationships with our families. Julie's family doesn't live close to us, but that does not stop us from communicating via Facetime every day. When are able to get together with Julie's family, we sing Karaoke. Karaoke is a Philippine tradition and is done when the family is together —everyone has so much fun! Lechon (roasted pig) is also eaten at family events. These are just a few of the many traditions that we carry on and hope to share with a child. Julie's family sees our choice to expand our family through adoption as a blessing and they are so excited to meet the newest family member!
When we are together with Matt's family, we go sightseeing in the local area. They also like to play billiards or cornhole when they get together. Although they live back in the U.S., we travel to meet them on holidays, or special days to his family (i.e. birthdays and graduations). His family is also very supportive of our adoption plan and are ready to welcome another child into the family with open arms!
From Us to You
Hello! We are Matt and Julie. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us and consider us as you determine whether adoption is the right path for you and your child.
We understand that is probably a difficult and trying time in your life. Although we have seen our share of difficult times, neither of us can relate to what you are going through. We think that there must be a million thoughts running through your head right now. Who to trust? What to do? As Christians, our faith is an important part of our daily lives. We turn to God to lead us and we believe that He will also help lead you as you navigate this journey.
We got married on the sixth of December 2014. We met online and talked to one another one year before getting married at a beautiful resort in the Philippines that was near Julie's hometown. It was a magical day surrounded by family and friends that we will never forget!
Unfortunately, we had to spend the next year apart. Julie had to wait for her visa to be processed by the U.S. State Department prior to be allowed to join Matt. Although we were not together, our bond only grew stronger and our dedication to our marriage and future family also continued to grow. We were reunited a year later and we have been inseparable ever since!
The only thing that's missing in our lives is a child to share it with. We have always dreamt of being parents and cannot wait to grow our family. To us, being a parent means being a mentor to our child. It is a lifelong endeavor. It starts with providing a safe, stable environment where they can grow up and express the talents that they have. We then want to nurture and grow those talents. The idea we like the most is knowing that this child will have a positive impact on the world and that we assisted in creating a dynamic person.
What we can offer this child is a home full of love. We can also provide them an education so that they can follow their dreams wherever they take them. We can also teach them how to deal with the difficulties in life's road and will always be there for them.
We also welcome a relationship with you and want you to see your child grow up. We will be creating a Facebook page just for you to follow the growth of your child and to see that we have kept our word. We are also open to staying in touch via email and phone contact, as well as the potential to see each other again in person some day, if that is something you would like.
Thank you so much for taking the time to view our profile. We are praying for you and wish you all the best!
