Steve & Tyler

Thank you for taking the time to get to know our little family! We've always dreamed of having two children close in age so we can watch them grow together. We hope to fill a child's life with love, laughter, and many happy memories. We can't even begin to explain our admiration and appreciation for your strength and selflessness, and we are grateful to you for considering us in this decision.

Adoption in Our Lives

Our Family

Adoption has already made a huge impact on our lives. In 2022 we were lucky enough to adopt our son Everett. He has brought so much joy into our lives. We had a great experience working with the adoption agency and are so honored that his birth mother chose us. We will be forever grateful to her, adoption, and being given the honor of being his parents.

Additionally, Tyler's cousin, Hallie, was adopted from Paraguay as a baby. While growing up, Tyler and Hallie's families lived in different states, but they have been best friends since they were kids. Luckily, Hallie and her husband now live minutes away from us, and we get the opportunity to spend a lot more time together. Hallie had her first child in 2022 and is expecting her second later this year, and we are so happy to have the opportunity to raise our children together.

Adoption is so special to us and already changed our lives because it brought Everett and Hallie into it. We couldn't imagine our lives without them and will be forever grateful for adoption.

Our Adventures

Hobbit Hole in New Zealand

The motto in our home is, "we're going on another adventure!" Before having Everett one of our greatest passions was to travel. Every couple years we tried to go somewhere exciting and new. Together, we have travelled around the world. We have gone on safari in South Africa, worn kilts in Scotland, honeymooned in Greece, hiked up a volcano and went into a Hobbit hole in New Zealand, soaked up the sun in Fiji, and acted like kids again at Disney World.

We also try to go on a beach vacation every year with family. It is great to have that time together where we can watch our children play together, make memories, and hopefully as parents sneak in a nap under an umbrella. Our last fun trip was with Steve's family to Siesta Key, FL. It was our first big trip with Everett. It was so exciting to see him experience the beach for the first time. He loved splashing around, floating in the water, and watching his cousins build sand castles. We look forward to many more vacations and can't wait to go on another adventure with our children.

Our Leisure Time

Long Walk in the Park

Our leisure time has changed a lot since becoming parents. Typically, you can either find us at the local playground – giggling as we go down the slide with Everett, going on family walks in the neighborhood, or exploring somewhere new together. Although we previously loved travelling, we still love to explore and enjoy watching Everett explore new places – even if there a little closer to home.

When we are not out and about, we love spending our free time with friends and family at our home. Steve loves trying new recipes and cooking dinner. After we have dinner, we typically play board games or cards.

When it is just the two of us, we enjoy trying new foods or restaurants in the area. Our favorite date night is the traditional dinner and a movie. We love action-adventure, rom-coms, and everything in between. There are so many places we still want to visit, foods we wish to try, and movies we look forward to watching, and we cannot wait to have our next adventure with our expanding family!

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Prior to adopting our son, we moved into a larger home in one of the country's best school districts. It's a stone Colonial built in 1941 with a lot of beautiful character. Over the last few years, we've updated our house and turned it into our home. We love our cozy family room to watch movies or play board games, an eat-in kitchen perfect for weekend breakfasts, and our wonderful yard for games.

However, the best part about our home is the surrounding neighborhood and community. Some of our best friends live a few minutes away and we've become close friends with several neighbors. There are kids of all ages in our neighborhood, and it has been such a great place to start our family. We are a five-minute walk to the elementary school and within walking distance to playgrounds, parks, the library, restaurants, and the community pool. On warmer days, we love taking walks with Everett and Gatsby discovering new places nearby!

We are lucky to call Pittsburgh home. The best part about living here is how close we are to our families. We look forward to our children growing up near their cousins, grandparents, and friends. We can't wait to take our children to their first hockey game, see fossils at the Natural History museum, or their first movie night in our local park.

Our Extended Families

At the Beach With Family

We were both lucky enough to grow up in close-knit families with the frequent presence of our cousins, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. We make it a point to see both sides of our family as frequently as possible. Our family was so excited when we become parents, and our nieces and nephews have fallen in love with Everett. They are always excited to see him and teach him new things. It is such a joy to watch them all grow up together.

Holiday Light Show With Family

As we blend our families, we love continuing the traditions we grew up with and sharing them with our son. We especially love spending the holidays with our families. This is not difficult given that Steve's family is here in Pittsburgh and Tyler's family is just two hours away. We look forward to passing down our holiday traditions like cutting down a Christmas tree, carving a jack-o-lantern, or coloring Easter eggs with a growing family of our own. The child we welcome into our home will have a loving older brother, cousins, grandparents, aunts, and uncles who will be a constant source of love and support.

From Us to You

Hi, we're Steve and Tyler - like the lead singer of Aerosmith!

Words cannot begin to describe how much we appreciate you reading this letter. Becoming parents has always been a dream of ours, and being a gay couple, without strong and selfless people like you, we wouldn't be able to make this dream a reality. Thank you for considering us as part of your journey to provide your baby with a loving home. We would like to help you learn more about us and the type of home we would love to raise your baby.

Our relationship started over 10 years ago - when we met online. Early in our relationship, we discovered and bonded over similar childhoods and our mutual desire to become parents. We both grew up with tight-knit families and spent each holiday and vacation with our extended families. Over the years our families have grown and in 2022 we were lucky enough to adopt our son, Everett. It is such a joy and honor to be his parents. He is such a silly, playful, and curious little boy. We cherish every moment with him and can't wait to watch him grow and make memories as a family. Everett is excited to become a big brother - although he may not understand he will have to share his toys, and his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins are so excited to welcome another child into the family with boundless love.

Since we got married 6 years ago, we got our dog, Gatsby, who Everett and our nieces and nephews love playing with, and more recently, bought our forever home. Our home has plenty of space for us to grow our family and a wonderful back yard for playing. The best part about our home is the location. We live in a very walkable neighborhood and are in one of the best school districts in the state. The elementary school, public pool, parks, and some of our best friends are all within walking distance. We love walking to the local park on a weekend morning or spending an evening with our best friends and their kids. We are excited to welcome another child and raise Everett and them in a safe, fun, and welcoming neighborhood with many other children to play with.

We want to fill a child's life with love, laughter, and many happy memories. We want to share our interests with a child and make sure that we impart the importance to be kind and open-minded. Similarly to when he was growing up, Steve looks forward to sharing his love for gardening and cooking with kids, and he cannot wait for helping hands in the kitchen and making Christmas cookies. As a kid, Tyler was always drawing and coloring on every piece of paper he could get his hands on. He loves coloring or finger painting with Everett, and he can't wait to allow another child to express themselves creatively and frame just about every picture they ever draw.

If chosen as adoptive parents, we promise to always love, support, and take care of your baby. We are both lucky to come from families that wanted the best for us and taught us to treat everyone with kindness and open-mindedness. This is the type of home we have provided our son and plan to also provide your baby. We are open to any level of openness you prefer. If it is sending you updates and photos or planning future visits. Depending on the openness you prefer [OR As we have done with Everett], we will always remind this child that we are blessed with this wonderful family because of the incredible sacrifice their mother made and how grateful we are to her.

We are humbled by this opportunity for you to get to know us. Thank you again for considering us and for helping fulfill our biggest dream of growing our family. We anxiously wait and hope for the day we can make this dream come true. We wish health and happiness for both you and your baby as you decide what is best for the both of you.
